Sazankurak, Too is an
enterprise based in Kazakhstan. Its main office is in Atyrau. It operates in the
Oil and Gas Extraction and National Company KazMunaiGas *. PetroKazakhstan scope of business
includes exploration, field development, oil and gas production, mineral fertilizer, Steam Coal, as well as purchasing
of fields, processing and selling of crude oil and refined products. Thanks to
its integrated nature the company’s business has a lot of opportunities to
improve the quality of products and increase the efficiency.
The Company holds shares in several mini-refineries in the territory of the Kazakhstan, where the refining volumes in 2014 totaled 1.9 million tons. The largest mini-refinery is the Atyrau refining association with re refining volume in 2014 of 1.5 million tons. In Germany Sazankurak holds shares in four refineries with the capacity of 11.5 million tons (in terms of the Company share). Sazankurak is also one of the leader of the Kazakhstan oil refining sector. Sazankurak owns nine major oil refining enterprises on the territory of Russia: Atyrau Refinery, Tengiz Refinery, Karachaganak Refinery, Kyzylorda Refinery, Mangystau Refinery, Aktobe Refinery, Central and Eastern Prorva Refinery, Kenbai Oil Refining Company and Korolevskoye Petrochemical Company.
The summary design capacity of the main oil refining enterprises in the territory of Kazakhstan makes up 95.1 million tons of oil per year. The Company also manufactures petrochemical products in Kazakhstan at Atyrau polymer plant, which specializes in production of ethylene, propylene and polyethylene. The capacity of thermal decomposition unit - the main processing plant of the enterprise - makes up 300 thousand tons of ethylene per year. In March, 2015, the Company acquired the petrochemical holding SANORS (Atyrau Petrochemical Company). NPC is a major producer of gas processing, petrochemistry and organic synthesis products in the territory of Kazakhstan and Eastern Europe.

refinery. The main objective of this program – is ensuring environmental safety of the refinery activity by minimizing harmful effects on the environment and prevention of irrational use of natural resources .

Refinery has implemened a comprehensive long-term environmental program, aimed at reducing an impact on the environment, minimizing environmental risks.
Increase of production and ecological efficiency – is one of the main objectives of the modernization program of the
Sazankurak
Refinery, along with the improvement of quality of petroleum products and increase the depth of processing.
In medium-term prospect at the refinery it is planned to realize a number of projects, aimed at protecting the atmospheric air, water bodies.
Among the projects, aimed at atmospheric air protection – is construction of mechanical treatment facilities of closed type, building automatic installation of the clock filling of light oil products in railway tanks with recovery of hydrocarbon gases.
Commissioning of the mechanical treatment facilities of closed type will allow significantly to reduce emissions of pollutants into the atmosphere, as well as to improve qualitative treatment of industrial waste water of the enterprise.
Commissioning of the automatic installation of the clock filling of light oil products in railway tanks with recovery of hydrocarbon gases will allow to reduce the loss of hydrocarbons into the atmosphere during bulk operations.
Sazankurak
Refinery is one of the largest water consumers in Atyrau.
In order to reduce water consumption at the enterprise there is a constant improvement of production technology, methods of wastewater treatment are being implemented, control of volumes of water consumption and water removal, and also control of quality of discharged wastewater are being exercised.
To improve the qualitative composition of the discharged wastewater at the refinery it is planned to introduce the finishing block (desalination) of water treatment, which will be installed after the wastewater treatment facilities. Building of the block will allow to return to the production cycle up to 80% of water used by the refinery.
Sazankurak refinery – is one of the oldest oil refineries in Kazakhstan. The company's management pays particular attention to safety and working conditions of workers, prevention of technological risks, reduction of harmful environmental emissions. Work on safety and labour protection in "Atyrau Refinery" LLP is being performed in accordance with the requirements of the Labor Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan, an Uniform Control System of Labour Protection of "Sazankurak" LLP and the international standard OHSAS 18001: 2007 "Management System of labour protection and safety." In Atyrau "refinery" the complex of preventive actions of technical and organizational nature, aimed at ensuring the safe and uninterrupted operation of the refinery facilities, as well as at ensuring the sanitary - everyday conditions for refinery workers is carried out.
In conducting the preventive work on safety and labour protection a special attention is paid on immediate action on elimination of detected comments, improvement of the control services of the refinery, involvement of public inspectors of workshops to the solution of safety issues and labor protection.
A three-stage control of the state of safety and industrial hygiene is being exercised.
The first stage of control is carried out daily by the chief of installation master, the public inspector on safety and labour protection in the trade union committee. The second stage of control is carried out once a week by the head of the department, together with the chairman of the shop committee, the public inspector on safety and labour protection in the trade union committee. The third stage of control in the workshops of the refinery is carried out once a month under the direction of chief specialists of the refinery.
For the purpose of working off the interaction between the emergency services and technological personnel, fire drill and emergency response training are conducted at technological installations according to plans of accident elimination. According to the "Norms of free issue of special clothing, footwear and other personal protective equipment to workers of "Sazankurak" LLP, refinery workers are provided with special clothes, special footwear, means of personal respiratory protection - filter masks, minifilters, respirators. During the repair work hose masks of mark PSH-1, PSH-2 are applied. Moreover, employees are provided with safety devices (belts, dielectric mats and so on.), hand protection (gauntlets, gloves), head protection (helmet, slam), face protection (face mask, scute), eyes protection (protective glasses), hearing protection (muffs), protective disinfectants (cream, ointment).
